Programs

Some of our diverse and innovative programs include:

  • Counseling and Referrals
We offer low-cost counseling services to struggling adolescents, young adults, couples and families. Sessions are led by rabbinic lay counselors and social workers. Cases that require the need for a higher or more complex level of care are referred to mental health professionals who are sensitive to the needs of these individuals.

  • Learn/Work Program
We strongly believe that productivity leads to self-confidence, and that having self-confidence is a necessary tool to achieve one’s goals in life. Our learn/work program serves disillusioned adolescents who are seeking direction and structure in their lives. At Aish Tamid, we place these young adults in a comfortable work environment suited to their skills, with an employer sensitive to their needs. Our goal is to enhance the skills of each individual and to promote their maximum potential. We strive to provide job opportunities that will enable the natural aptitudes of these individuals to flourish.

  • Mentorship
Throughour life coaching and mentoring program, we attempt to provide guidance and support to teenagers and young adults. These one-on-one sessions attempt to identify the main obstacles in the lives of the participants, and to work on a long-term program to overcome same. This service consists of repeated encounters between the participants and the mentors to work on the various areas of conflict. The meetings are usually held in friendly and warm environments from a coffee shop to a park. (Note: should the participants in this program present a mental illness or severe psychological disorder requiring the help of a mental health professional, the case would immediately be referred for a higher level of care).

  • Mentor Training Program
Our recently developed “mentor training program” prepares volunteer adults to deal with struggling adolescents, newlyweds, or parents in different types of crisis. We attempt to train mentors on how to connect with the individuals, and to establish a comfortable environment. Long-lasting relationships have been fostered between the mentors and the assisted individuals. (Note: this program is under the supervision of trained professionals experienced in the field of psychology and human resources).

  • Lectures and Seminars
We presently deliver approximately fifteen lectures a month to both orthodox and not-yet-observant communities. Our lectures are filled with inspirational advice to those who may be struggling with life challenging doubts or dilemmas. To those not-yet-observant audiences, we seek to inspire them with the truth of Torah, and the beauty of Yiddishkeit. Our staff includes dynamic speakers fluent in English, Yiddish, or Hebrew depending on the community where the lecture is being held. Most of our lectures and seminars are professionally recorded and edited. These lectures then become available through our CD-library or our website.

  • Lending Library
We maintain an extensive library of fiction and non-fiction books geared to teenagers and adults. Our non-fiction section includes many self-help titles as well as medical and professional literature. We also provide our members with an audio-video library presenting many dynamic and inspirational Torah speakers from around the world, as well as CDs of all of our lectures. Our audio-video library serves people from all over the nation, free of charge.

  • Torah Website
Our state-of-the-art Torah website, www.yaakovcares.com, addresses contemporary issues and offers free audio and video classes to all its visitors. The content of this website covers all areas of Judaism. Our “Ask the Rabbi” feature has proven to be one of the site’s most popular links. We invested our energy and time in creating this website so that we would especially provide teenagers and young adults with an effective tool to cope with their everyday challenges and questions.

  • Ask the Rabbi
Our popular hotline serves as a discreet forum for parents and adolescents to address their questions to rabbinical authorities on any subject, whether related to Jewish law (Halachah), Jewish life-vision (Hashkafah), or advice in any area. This service is totally free of charge, and has assisted hundreds of individuals all over the world.

  • Financial Assistance
The members of Aish Tamid are sensitive to the financial needs of the community, especially in these times of crisis. We assist those facing any struggling financial scenario, including educational expenses, health related costs, and everyday expenditures. A qualified board evaluates each case and attempts to assist the individual or family with the necessary financial aid. This program is closely-linked to our Learn/Work service.

  • Midrasha at Aish Tamid Program
This program was specifically designed for young girls in an effort to keep them in a safe and comfortable environment, while teaching them the insights of Jewish life and the beauty of yiddishkeit. Midrasha is an after-school program consisting of classes and social activities for teenage girls. We believe that young girls between the ages of 16-25 can sometimes find this stage of life overwhelming. This program attempts to inspire young girls in a healthy environment and to promote self-confidence among them.

The members of Aish Tamid strongly believe that within each and every one of us there is a fire that burns yearning for life and a connection to G-d and his Torah. It is our mission to nurture this flame so that it may unceasingly burn within each Jewish soul.
